Model Agyness Deyn gave Lady Gaga competition in the wacky department at last night’s ACE Awards. The raven-haired British beauty wore a pair of feathered hair false eyelashes on her lower lashlines to create an effect despair, “sad clown” look.
Well, sad, goth, clown. While the creativity was all Deyn’s doing, she may have been inspired by Lady Gaga’s current influence on extreme makeup. “Lady Gaga is known for her ‘sad’ makeup,” MAC Cosmetics Senior Artist Romero Jennings told us at a recent photo shoot. “The shapes always go downwards.”
A few companies sell flutterly lashes like these — MadameMadeline.com carries black feather false eyelashes like Elise Faux Eyelashes #130 ($5.25); Elise Faux Eyelashes #404 ($3.75) — which can be used on the upper or lower lash lines for different effects.
Sephora Black Feather False Eye Lashes ($15) are also good choice –however the price is a little steep on the pocket.
To recreate Deyn’s look, first trim the lashes to fit the lower lash area before gluing them on – this easy tweak will make the application process much easier. And for the full effect, color in your upper lash line with black pencil eyeliner and weep a lighter eye shadow shade over lid and darker shade on the outer corner of the lid and the crease to complete the look.
